Young Adult Psychotherapy

I also work with young adults to support them with matters around intergenerational trauma, attachment and relationships; transition into adulthood; experiences of any kind of abuse as a child or an adult; low mood and depression; lack of motivation and feeling lost; gender and/or sexuality; making sense of recent diagnoses; neurodivergence; major life changes; self-esteem; adoption-related matters (adult adoptees; parents of adoptees under 18); shame; loss and bereavement; intrusive thoughts; anxiety; BAME and POC individuals and the impact of racism and shadism/colourism; and multiracial and/or mixed heritage experiences.

My specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy MA included Adult Psychotherapy training and clinical placements. Developmental knowledge, expertise and training particularly enable me to effectively support young adults who are experiencing the negative effects of difficult early childhood experiences and intergenerational trauma. So in particular, on a medium- and long-term basis, I work with individuals who are transitioning into adulthood and who feel ready to look into their childhoods and explore, within the developing therapeutic relationship, how early experiences have impacted their personalities, their relational patterns, their physical health and habits, and their beliefs about themselves, the world and others.

I offer weekly psychotherapy which is a therapeutic intervention focused on exploring, in depth and over a long period of time, deeply-rooted emotional, physical, relationship, psychological and behavioural issues within a developmentally-informed working framework.

I use Humanistic Psychotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy (including Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapies and Attachment-based Psychotherapy) as well as the helpful lens of contexts and intersectionality to help clients identify and reconnect with their core sense of self (core needs and values) and help them build more satisfying and fulfilling lives.

Also, once a trusting and working therapeutic relationship has been established I am also able to use EMDR Therapy to target specific traumatic material, fears, intrusive thoughts and highly upsetting memories.

As a psychotherapist I do not offer advice to clients yet sometimes I use counselling techniques alongside psychotherapy to support clients' therapy goals and general wellbeing. For example, aspects of Sociology and Epistemology as well as psychoeducation on Brain Neuroscience, Neurobiology and Attachment Theory are often shared to resource clients in informative, effective and permanent ways.
